20 March 2020
Hello Heritage Fellowship Family!
I hope this letter finds you and your household well. My prayer is that every need has been supplied during this time of social distancing. Whereas we practice social distancing, let us not be guilty of social isolation, as there still are many ways we can connect!
Let’s celebrate - over the last week we:
- Collectively we began Care Calls for Sick and Shut In members.
- Partnered and packaged 400 lunches for our local elementary school.
- Worshipped God in spirit and in truth online,
- Blessed the hearts and souls of residents of the Embry Rucker Shelter.
I’m convinced COVID-19 has not stopped the work of the church, as we are proving the “work of the church is unstoppable”. Thank you to all who have rallied together. #LoveLifts!
While the current circumstances may be stressful, “remember to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God” (Phil 4:6). Whether you realize it or not, the supernatural peace of God is guarding our hearts, beyond what we can comprehend!
Within our Commonwealth, Governor Ralph Northam has declared a state of emergency. As such, it is urged for each of us to avoid non-essential gatherings of more than 10 people, per federal guidelines. Please note this order of public health also impacts recreational activities to include most social venues.
Recently, I along with other faith leaders participated in the White House Faith Leaders call on COVID-19. In that call, Dr. Deborah Birx member of the Presidential COVID-19 Task Force discussed pertinent information that we encourage you to review on our website www.heritagereston.org
Our prayer is that each of you will take the necessary precautions and preparations over these next several weeks. In this time, please make certain that your family is equipped with both grocery, and pharmaceutical essentials. While these adjustments may seem burdensome, each of us must do our part to comply to flatten the curve.
For the safety of all, please note all churchwide ministry meetings, and activities, are temporarily suspended. Our staff is working remotely, however, they are still available for calls.
Though we are absent one from another, every Sunday we encourage you to meet us on social media and on our YouTube channel, Noonday Bible Study and Hour of Power hosted on Wednesday’s via Zoom.
In the midst of all that we are currently experiencing in the world, there is hope in the finished work of Jesus Christ. On March 19, China reported no new locally transmitted cases had been reported for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Promising treatments and vaccines are in rapid development. Let’s continue to pray for our nation, and all of the first responders who are on the front lines of this response.
Finally, take full advantage of this extended time at home. Read, write, study, pray, and invest in your family. Draw nigh to God. Remember, this is a time for precaution and proper preparation not panic. “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind” (2nd Timothy 1:7).
Trusting in the Lord,
Pastor Dustin B. Sullivan
