The Heritage Women’s Week Breast Cancer fundraiser was held in October during Women's Week. Participants could walk and ride the miles alone or gather a group. Donors sponsored them as they walked or rode their bikes up to 20 miles to raise funds for Breast Cancer patients. The fundraiser culminated with a Power and Praise event on October 22nd at 12:30 p.m., which included a praise dance workout for everyone. The goal was to donate 100 Bosom Buddy Baskets to the 3B’s Foundation, a local organization that provides valuable resources and recovery items to breast cancer surgery patients. Rev. McLaughlin is a licensed and ordained minister from Mount Olivet Church, Petersburg, VA where she serves as Director of Education, Performing Arts, Women's Ministry, and the Director of Christian Education. Her international ministry has taken her to serve throughout the United States, Germany, Bermuda, Suriname, Curacao, French Guyana, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Sikkim-India, and numerous countries in the Caribbean. She has organized mission teams for her most cherished and frequented assignment, Ghana, where she co-founded Grace Village Ministries International fresh new, thriving ministry which provides a place of worship, training and outreach for the inner-city of Accra, Ghana.
Pamela was formally educated at Hampton Institute and Virginia State University. She earned Bachelor's Degree in music education and a Master of Education Degree in educational administration and supervision. An educator for over 20 years, she has taught choral music and drama in Petersburg and Chesterfield County Public Schools. She was the founding administrator and executive director of Olivet Christian Academy, Incorporated, now in its twelfth year.
She has been married for over 43 years to the Rev. Dr. Wesley Keith McLaughlin, Senior Pastor of Mt. Olivet for over 37 years, and they are the grateful parents of one son, Jameson Keith McLaughlin, daughter-in-love, Phaedra, and grandparents to granddaughter, Charis, and twin grandsons: Jacob and Joshua.
